Kotiza

FAQ

The questions members and organizers ask most often.

If you are a member

Does Kotiza keep my money?

No. Kotiza does not hold any funds and does not receive any payments. The money moves directly between you and the tontine organizer, as usual. The app only records who has contributed and who has had their turn.

Who can see my contributions?

The tontine organizer and you. Other members see the payout order and the group's payouts, but each person sees the details of their own contributions only.

What happens if I pay late?

The organizer sees your contribution as “Late”, and you may get a reminder by SMS or WhatsApp. Kotiza does not apply any penalty. The rules of the tontine are still the ones your group has set.

How do I know when I will receive the pot?

Your page shows the month of your turn and the amount you will receive. The organizer sets the payout order, and everyone can see it.

Can the organizer change my past contributions?

The organizer can record a payment, and every action is written in a history that the organizer cannot erase. If you disagree about something, write to us: we can look at it.

What should I do if my number is not recognized?

The link connects you to the number the organizer entered. If it does not match your number, contact the organizer so they can correct it. No one else can change it.

If you organize a tontine

Can I add a member after the tontine has started?

Yes. The new member takes the last position and owes nothing for rounds that have already passed. A round is added at the end for their turn, and the pot for the following turns goes up because there is one more person contributing.

What happens to a member I deactivate?

Their history is kept in full. Only their contributions for future rounds are deleted. Their contribution for the current round is still due. If the member has not had their turn yet, Kotiza warns you before you continue.

Can I change the contribution amount?

Yes, in Profile. The new amount applies to FUTURE rounds only. Past rounds and the current round do not change. Otherwise, the history would no longer match what members actually paid.

Can I change the payout order?

Yes, as long as the members involved have not had their turn yet. A position that has already been paid out is locked. Moving it would rewrite a payout that was already made.

What does pausing a tontine do?

While the tontine is paused, you cannot record payments or send reminders, automatic or manual. Nothing is erased. You can resume whenever you want.

How much do reminders cost?

They are included in your subscription. Circle includes 100 reminders per month, Network 300, and Movement 600. If you go over your included reminders, your messages are never blocked. Your allowance resets on the first day of each month. Kotiza shows the number of SMS before sending. A message with accents or curly quotes can count as 2 SMS.

If I delete a tontine, is everything lost?

Not immediately. Deleting removes the tontine from your list, but its history is kept for 12 months. Write to us during that time if you need to get it back. After that, the history is permanently erased.
